How the conversion works
SaveToDrive re-encodes the JPG's current pixels into a lossless PNG on a background worker and streams the result into your connected drive. It's the format to reach for when a tool requires PNG, or when you want a lossless base for further editing.
The image is processed in memory as it streams through; nothing is written to a disk we keep. Converting won't restore detail already lost to JPG compression, and the PNG will usually be larger — so convert when you need PNG specifically, not to save space.

Will converting to PNG improve my JPG's quality?
No. Any detail lost when the image was first saved as JPG can't be recovered — PNG just stores the current pixels losslessly from here on.
Will the PNG be larger than the JPG?
Usually, yes. PNG is lossless, so for photographic images it's typically bigger than the JPG. Convert when you specifically need PNG, not to save space.
When should I actually do this?
