How the conversion works
SaveToDrive decodes the WebP and re-encodes it as PNG on a background worker, then streams the result into your connected drive. Transparency is carried across, and the output is a lossless, universally-supported copy you can edit or upload anywhere.
The image is processed in memory as it streams through; nothing is written to a disk we keep. Note that if the source WebP was saved lossy, PNG stores the current pixels exactly — it can't recover detail that was already discarded.

Why won't some apps open WebP?
WebP is a newer format — some desktop software, older tools, and a few upload forms still expect PNG or JPG. PNG is the safe, universal choice.
Does converting to PNG restore quality lost by WebP?
No. If the WebP was saved lossy, that's already baked in — PNG gives you a lossless container from here on, not a way to recover detail.
Is transparency kept?
Yes — WebP's alpha channel carries over, so transparent backgrounds are preserved in the PNG.
Can I convert a batch at once?

Do you keep my files?
