Is PNG actually lossless from an AVIF source?

The PNG encode itself is lossless — it faithfully reproduces the pixels decoded from the AVIF file. It can't restore detail the original AVIF encode already discarded.

Does this keep transparency?

Yes — if the source AVIF has an alpha channel, it carries through to the PNG output.
